The Sparrow’s Nest welcomes a new Board President, Kirk Kasicki, and Board Director, Sonya Burnett.

Kirk has been married to his wonderful wife Darrah for 13 years and they have one daughter in middle school. Darrah also volunteers as a TLC at The Sparrow’s Nest. Kirk is the Vice President of Corporate Tax at CSI Leasing and is a member of the St. Charles Jaycees. They attend McKnight Crossings Church of Christ in Rock Hill. “I serve because I believe in the mission of The Sparrow’s Nest to house and educate young women that would otherwise fall through the cracks of the system. Matthew 25 implores us to protect the vulnerable and the Nest is there to provide services to some of the most vulnerable in our society: pregnant young women that do not necessarily have many other good choices,” says Kasicki.

Sonya lives in St. Charles, MO with her 3 boys; 15-year-old twins, and a 23-year-old who attends Washburn University in Topeka, KS. Sonya has nearly 20 years of experience in early childhood intervention with more than 18 years as a parent educator with Parents as Teachers, specializing in working with teen parents. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Child and Family Development from Missouri State University, Springfield, MO, and a Master’s Degree in Public Health-Community Health from Saint Louis University, St. Louis, MO. Sonya takes pleasure in spending time with her boys, volunteering, traveling, enjoying her community and great circle of extended family and friends. “I know the Sparrow’s Nest is needed in the community and through their mission they can empower teen moms to give their babies a strong foundation through multi-faceted services that create great outcomes for babies AND family.” said Burnett “I want to help The Sparrow’s Nest in their mission to educate and grow these moms including their spiritual journey. ”
