Gala – The Sparrow’s Nest will host its first Gala on 11/9/13.

Our Gala committee is actively planning this event. We are still in need of the following:

  • Silent Auction coordinator-2-6 hours/weekNow-November 10, 2013

The Silent Auction Volunteer plays an essential role in preparing for The Sparrow’s Nest largest annual fundraising event, The Gala, A Black Tie Event: A Night in Vintage Hollywood. The Silent Auction includes dozens of large and small items donated by local restaurants, shops, and service providers, and will be a popular part of the evening’s festivities. The Silent Auction raises important funds for The Sparrow’s Nest, and the Silent Auction Coordinator makes this possible.

This position requires weekly communication with The Gala Chair- Carla Klaskin, frequent communication with past and potential donors, comfort in asking for donations, some travel to retrieve donated items, and internet access to updated shared online documents. The volunteer can work remotely from home. Flexibility, creativity, outgoing communication skills and strong organizational skills are key traits for this volunteer position.

The volunteer will contribute approximately 1-3 hours/week during summer months, requesting donations, and more hours in October and November, as the event approaches. The event is on November 9, and the volunteer must be available on the night of the event to oversee the Silent Auction between 6pm-10:30pm. Otherwise, work hours are flexible.

The volunteer will gain entry to the event and will have time to enjoy the festivities.

While this role can be done by one person, it may be helpful to assemble a small group of other volunteers to assist with item solicitation, pick-up, assembly of gift bags, and night-of-event duties. (This can be your family, book club, church group, etc.)

The Volunteer is welcome to join The Gala Planning Committee Meetings.

Professionals or experienced, mature students with fundraising experience encouraged to apply to Shari Hammer, Interim Volunteer Coordinator. Shari@thesparrowsneststl.org
